Detail of choroidal neovascularization (CNV)
ncRNA name Sirna-027
ncRNA Category siRNA
Disease name choroidal neovascularization (CNV)
Species Homo sapiens
Tissues/Cell_line human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs), HeLa S3 cells
Methods BrdU labeling, siRNA transfection, qRT-PCR, luciferase reporter assay, ELISA
Expression pattern associated
Functional description We used siRNA directed against vegfr1 mRNA to investigate the role of VEGFR1 in ocular neovascularization. After evaluating many siRNAs, Sirna-027 was identified. In a CNV model, intravitreous or periocular injections of Sirna-027 resulted in significant reductions in the area of NV. In mice with ischemic retinopathy, intravitreous injection of Sirna-027 reduced retinal NV by 32%.
